One Foot in the Grave By Jeaniene Frost. This is the second in the Cat and Bones series, the first books was great, it kept me hooked right till the end and then…it ended on a cliffhanger! I was really eager to read this book and I’m happy to say that it lived up to everything i thought it would be. Plot: Years have gone by since Cat last saw Bones but a lot has changed, she’s stronger and more sure of herself than she once was. She has her insecurities but she doesn’t let those show as much. Cat is now the head of an undercover group that works for the government, the paranormal side of the government and even though she was blackmailed into taking the position she actually enjoys her job. She’s never been able to forget about Bones though and he certainly hasn’t forgotten about Cat, he’s searched for Cat for as long as they’ve been parted and a chance encounter at a wedding means he isn’t going to be letting her go again. And Bones has reentered her life at the best time, Cat has been targeted for assassination and Bones isn’t going to let a single thing harm the one woman he’s ever loved. On top of trying to rediscover where she and Bones are she’s having to make sure she’s stays alive long enough to tell Bones that she has and will always love him.The are a couple of amazing things about this book, the characters have grown from the last book, Frost has allowed their lives to move on even if they’re not together but she manages to get the pain of their separation across with reiterating it to a point of boredom. I was a bit worried that she’d drag out their reunion until the last couple of chapters but Frost sticks true to her characters and although they have a lot of things to work through both realize that they can’t live without the other and they’ll work through their problems together. You learn more about Bones’ world in this book and his background but even though a lot of questions get answered there is still room for growth that lead nicely to the next book.
